Crafting newbies, if you are interested in learning how to knit, go to Michaels or Joannes and pick up a ball of dishcloth cotton yarn (like Lilly and Cream) and knitting needles in size 7 or 8. You can learn how to cast on and garter stitch a dish cloth to start learning the knit stitch at the meeting.

This class will cover how to set and maintain a worm composting system. We will discuss the following topics:
Choosing or building a worm bin;
Choosing bedding material;
Acquiring worms;
Setting up your bin;
Taking care of your warms.

Jon Steiman will be stopping by the Catonsville Cooperative Market to be discussing his new book, Grocery Story: The Promise of Food Co-ops in the Age of Grocery Giants, by New Society Publishers. We are grateful to be joined by Jon to guide us in this discussion and the discoveries he made while writing and researching his book.

Jon will have a book signing and open discussion from 4:30PM-5:30PM with a discussion of his book scheduled at 5:30PM in the IUCC Fellowship Hall during our Market. Make sure to plan your shopping trip to include this interesting evening!

Market + Seed + Plant Swap

We will be hosting a Seed + Plant Swap at this Saturday’s Market! If you have some extra seeds and baby plants to share, bring them and swap for new and exciting additions to your plant community. We will have a table set up outside (weather permitting) for exchange.

We will also have a Master Gardener on site to discuss native plants, vegetable gardening, stormwater management, etc.!

DIY Kombucha Workshop

Come learn from our expert kombucha brewer how to make your own kombucha from Co-op ingredients! Students will receive a starter SCOBY and materials to make their first batch. Tickets available through EventBrite. $15 for Co-op Members, $25 for Non Co-op Members.

Thank you to the generosity of The Pottery Cove for hosting our event at their space and to HEX Ferments for supplying our SCOBYs and kombuchas for tasting!
